Tour in the Malepère
Land of contrasts
Consult the dates available for this tour and reserve your place
The day begins in the village of Montréal, the centre of the Malepere wine district. The impressive church in Montreal is linked to the eventful history of the region marked by the cathar epic.
Afterwards visit a cooperative set up in the 1970’s for the study and research of the environment and plant varieties, the headquarters of the Malepère wine appellation as well as the house of the local food specialities, La Maison de Terroirs. Explore the cellar and the micro-vinification (process?), the collection of wines and enjoy a wine tasting. Enjoy your picnic lunch in the vineyard and afterward, while allowing your lunch to digest, walk through the vineyards, through the shaded woods and aromatic plant garden and around the ponds.
Leave this paradise to visit the quaint village of Alaigne, which dates back to the middle-ages. Alaigne is known for its circulade (a circular construction of houses in the heart of the village).
We finish this magnificent day with a unique visit to a charming property in the middle of nowhere, surrounded by hills and forests, where a chef, in love both with nature and cooking, cultivates and prepares preserved onions spiced with hazelnut, St George's mushroom, bacon, lemon, tomato and many other secret ingredients. Her onion jams are a delight and she might even reveal some of her secrets recipes if you are lucky!
